Nexus Research Journal, based on the code of conduct and best editorial practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and in accordance with the principles of transparency set forth therein, establishes the following Editorial Ethics Statement, considering the following aspects:

General Criteria

Conflict of Interest:
A conflict of interest arises when members of the editorial board or peer reviewers have a relationship with the contribution (its authors or sponsors) that may negatively influence their judgment. The editorial board will address this situation through direct communication with both parties and will seek another reviewer to conduct the evaluation.

Confidentiality:
All individuals involved in the journal’s editorial process commit to maintaining the confidentiality of submissions presented for publication and to not using the information, results, or data contained therein without proper authorization from the authors.

Communication with Authors:
The journal ensures clear and continuous communication with authors who submit contributions for publication, keeping them regularly informed about the status of their submission.

Responsibilities of the Editor

  • Act fairly, objectively, and without any form of discrimination (sexual, political, religious, or ethnic) when applying the procedures described in this statement.

  • Base editorial decisions regarding submitted contributions on their academic merit and on principles such as importance, clarity, originality, and relevance according to the journal’s editorial policy; therefore, the editor must remain free of any conflict of interest.

  • Ensure the proper double-blind peer review process for contributions submitted to Nexus Research Journal

Responsibilities of the Authors

  • Guarantee the originality of the submitted contribution and ensure it is free from any form of plagiarism. Authors must also ensure that the article does not infringe copyright or intellectual property rights. • Comply with the established deadline for reviewing the manuscript and ensure strict confidentiality of the information received from the editorial board or authors.

  • Act according to the principles of competence, confidentiality, impartiality, honesty, diligence, respect, and courtesy, conducting a critical, honest, constructive, and objective review of both the scientific and literary quality of the work.

Procedure in Case of Unethical Behavior

Editors must take reasonable measures to identify and prevent the publication of works involving unethical behavior or research misconduct. Examples of unethical practices include data fabrication or manipulation, plagiarism, citation manipulation, falsification of data, and omission of authorship.

Initially, reports of unethical behavior must be communicated to the editor, who, together with the editorial board, will initiate the investigation. Reports must be submitted in writing and accompanied by sufficient evidence.

If the misconduct is considered minor, the editor may resolve the issue directly with the authors without consulting the editorial board.

If the misconduct is considered serious, the editor and editorial board must:

  • Send an official written notification to the authors and reviewers detailing the misconduct based on available evidence.

  • Decide whether to notify the authors’ employers or institutional affiliations about the unethical behavior.

  • Seek expert advice if the allegations are not supported by convincing evidence.

  • Allow the authors the opportunity to respond to the accusations.

  • Require corrections, modifications, or, if necessary, the withdrawal of the article from the journal.
